The life and career of Vashti Patrick-Joseph are a testament to what can happen when one’s passion, purpose, and profession collide in harmony. With a smile as warm and inviting as the beautiful waters of her native country of Grenada, this Dallas based entrepreneur, speaker and digital marketing strategist is a woman on the rise.
Vashti holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Computer Information Systems from Midwestern State University, and a master of science degree in eBusiness from the University of Wyoming. In 2011 she decided to try something completely out of her comfort zone by starting her natural hair blog, VeePeeJay.com.
Blogging became a passion of hers, and eventually, she was able to turn what started out as a hobby into a full fledged business. Through her dedication to seeing her new passion thrive, Vashti has become a trusted voice in the natural hair, beauty, and lifestyle blogging communities. She boasts a devoted following of over 70,000 across social media platforms, and has spoken at several conferences in her niche, such as Dallas Startup Week and Blogging While Brown. She has been featured on Essence.com, HuffPo Live, and was named the Black Weblog Award winner for best tutorial blog in 2014.
With a successful blogging career on her hands, Vashti took another giant leap out of her comfort zone and launched her own faith based apparel brand, Ven and Rose in 2015. In 2016, she negotiated a licensing agreement with of the top brands in the world for use of one of her designs in their marketing campaign. She uses her lifestyle brand to remind women to embrace faith instead of fear, live authentically and find the beauty in discovering their purpose. This is an aspect of her career that Vashti holds dear to her heart and endeavors to do more of in greater ways in the future.
In addition to her blog and apparel line, Vashti is also a highly sought after digital strategist and consultant. She works with small business owners to teach them how to leverage social media and digital marketing to grow their businesses. A true multi-passionate entrepreneur and servant leader at heart, she is most proud of building a career that gives her a chance to help others while also walking in her purpose.
When she’s not glued to her laptop running her burgeoning empire, you can find Vashti curled with a cup of tea and a good book or spending time with husband.
